The Management Team

The management team of Luciol is built from three key persons, who were already managing the Sunrise Luciol division.

Jürgen Brendel is our R&D manager. Jürgen has a PhD in Physics from the University of Frankfurt a.M. (Germany). After several years of research at universities, he became the R&D manager of Sunrise Luciol. He is the "father" of all the instruments developed by the division. He will continue in this role with Luciol.

Bruno Huttner is our general manager, also in charge of the sales and marketing aspects. Bruno is an engineer from the Ecole Centrale de Paris (France) and has a PhD in Physics from the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology). He has several years of professional experience abroad (University of Oxford, NTT in Japan, University of Geneva) and was the GM of Sunrise Luciol.

Patrick Stamp is our production manager and is also in charge of the operations of Luciol. Patrick is an engineer and has an MBA from the University of Geneva. He has worked for several years for companies in the field of telecom instrumentation, and was also the production manager in Sunrise Luciol.

The Name Luciol

Many people have asked us what is the meaning of Luciol.

"Luciole" is the french word for firefly. We adopted this name to show our commitment to be your source of light, which will light up your dark fiber, and help you find out its properties. As you all know, french is a beautiful although complicated language... Words often have extra letters, which are not pronounced. This is precisely the case with "luciole", where the final "e" is not pronounced. So we dropped this "e" to enable our non french-speaking customers to pronounce our name right!

ABOUT LUCIOL

General

Luciol Instruments SA (a.k.a. Luciol) is a private Swiss company located in the town of Mies, close to Geneva. Luciol is active in the field of fibre optic measurement and instrumentation. Luciol has purchased the key assets of Sunrise Luciol SaRL, which was divested from its parent company Sunrise Telecom Incorporated, and kept all its experienced management team.

We want to put our experience and our expertise to your service, to provide you with innovative optical fiber instrumentation.

Our core expertise is in photon-counting technology, which enables a new class of Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers. These OTDRs have extremely high spatial resolution, which is impossible to achieve with conventional types of OTDRs.

In addition to our commercial products, we are looking for partners, who would like to market and distribute our other products on a OEM basis. If you are looking for a competitive Polarization Mode Dispersion Analyzer, or a Chromatic Dispersion Analyzer, which you would like to add to your product line, Luciol will be able to provide you with a competitive solution, with a short deadline. We are also willing to discuss new projects in the field of physical layer optical fiber testing.
